Copy of UPDATES ON THE CURRENT CANADA POST STRIKE
UPDATES REGARDING MY ABILITY TO SHIP WILL BE POSTED HERE, AS NEW INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE.
Just when I had finally figured out how to work with the tariffs...
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has launched a national strike following a recent government announcement on Canada Post’s transformation. A 72-hour notice of the strike was not provided, causing further frustrations around the situation.
During this strike, mail and parcels are not being processed or delivered, and service guarantees have been suspended. Due to this, I am again having to restrict my shipping, and therefore my ability to sell.
Below will be a running log of the current Canada Post situation. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions!
Thank you for your continued support.
The majority of my customers are in the U.S., which makes these new border changes especially difficult. The end of de minimis, and the requirement for costly DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) shipping place a huge strain on my small business, as well as many other independent makers across Canada. This policy shift has very real consequences for artists and small businesses who rely on cross-border community and support.
SEPT 25: The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has launched a national strike following a recent government announcement on Canada Post’s transformation. A 72-hour notice of the strike was not provided, causing further frustrations around the situation.
At this time, I am only able to offer domestic shipping (within Canada), and only via Purolator. Local pick-up remains available for those who are able.
SEPT 16, 2025: Orders are clearing U.S. Customs, and arriving safely at their destinations! There are still delays, but overall things are flowing well. Thank you for the continued support!
SEPT 12, 2025: U.S. orders have been slowly, but steadily, clearing the border, and are beginning to arrive at their destinations. Almost a dozen U.S. orders have successfully been processed and shipped since the beginning of the month.
SEPT 1, 2025: U.S. shipping is now live! I have already processed an order, and it's gone smoothly. Please reach out if there are any issues, but otherwise, aside from the increased tax, everything should be back to regular operations.
AUG 27, 2025: DDP shipping will be integrated into Canada Post labels, starting August 29th. It will add all required fees and duties charges as line items at checkout, meaning the package should clear customs, and go straight to the recipient, as previous.
My handmade goods qualify under the USMCA/CUSMA compliance, and therefore should not be subject to tariffs. I am hoping this will be somehow integrated into Shopify's roll-out of the DDP shipping option, which will go live on Friday, August 29th.
I will be following closely, and seeking a solution for my business and my customers.
I will be reactivating U.S. shipping on Monday, September 1, after I have had the weekend to make sure I understand the process, and can confidentially guide any customer inquires.
Thank you for all for your continued support.
AUG 26, 2025: Shipping to the U.S. has been temporarily suspended. Please check back for updates.
AUG 23, 2025: Beginning September 1st, U.S. shipping will be temporarily suspended due to changes at the border. With the end of de minimis allowances, all packages entering the U.S. will require DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) shipping. Unfortunately, this adds significant cost for customers, and the uncertainty around duty and brokerage fee amounts, along with the tariffs, means I cannot confidently provide information to my customers at this time.
I’ll be monitoring the situation closely, and hope to reinstate U.S. shipping as soon as a sustainable, affordable solution is in place.
Unfortunately, this means the those who are on my custom-work waiting list, and who reside in the U.S., will be contacted and informed that their order is cancelled until further notice. All deposits will be refunded, regardless of the status of the piece.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
