This book page holder is made from five layers of alternating black and natural leathers, and features a shell cordovan* exterior. 

*Cordovan is an equine leather made from the fibrous flat connective tissue (or shell) beneath the hide on the rump of the horse. This leather is known for its durability, natural shine and strong waterproofing capacity. The high price of this leather is due to its high demand, and the six-month long labourious and complicated tanning process. Each piece is coloured by hand during the tanning process.
