Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was an English novelist who wrote the Gothic novel Frankenstein in 1818. It is considered one of the first works of science fiction, and one of her best-known pieces. She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary spent a large portion of her life travelling throughout Europe, writing.
